Skimming in a restaurant

Here is another reason you should not hand your card to a server in a restaurant. 25-year-old Carlton Lewis of Georgia is looking at charges for conspiracy to commit access device fraud, three counts of access device fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft.

Lewis gave waitresses credit and debit card skimming devices. They would then run the cards through the devices to recieve information before they returned the devices to Lewis.

Lewis paid the waitresses based on the amount of information they received.

He used some of the money to buy re-loadable money cards from Walmart which he used to transfer the information they received onto to use as debit cards to buy things.

The next time you are at a restaurant and hand your card over, remember what could be happening when it goes out of your sight.
