Servers and Skimmers, not the only people to worry about in a restaurant!

With the dine fraud free program, the customer will approve the total ticket amount, select a tip amount, and approve the final transaction. This prohibits anyone from adjusting the tip or total amount after you have left.

" — A former Stephens County restaurant owner is now in custody at the county jail on multiple charges.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said Christopher Carter, former owner of The Cove restaurant, which is now closed, turned himself in to the sheriff’s office Tuesday.

“He is currently charged with one count of identity fraud, three counts of credit card fraud, two counts of theft by deception and two counts of forgery,” the sheriff said. “Bond has been set at $55,000.”

Numerous allegations have been made against Carter.

Most recently, a Toccoa woman reported Friday to the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office that she and her husband ate at The Cove on Feb. 25 and paid with a credit card. The bill was only $41.73, but $81.73 was charged to the card.

Shirley said Carter also was being sought by authorities elsewhere in Georgia.

“He is currently being held on a probation warrant for credit card fraud in Gwinnett County,” Shirley said.

Warrants and additional charges are likely, the sheriff said."
